Thank God, Someone of note (and sanity) is taking steps. Enough with this carnage. We are better than that.

Do you feel the same about the carnage unleashed against the unborn in the last 40 years?

When Giffords, Biden, Obama Bloomberg, Feinstein, Pilosi etc, etc, etc become outraged by the tragic and senseless killing of 56 million unborn, defenseless. helpless, voiceless children before they ever get to see the light of day (abortion), then perhaps I might consider what they have to say. Gabby Gifford was blessed to survive her ordeal and I have the highest regard and empathy for her. But does she have the same empathy and regard for the unborn? The most helpless never (or rarely) survive an abortion. Roe v. Wade is judicial tyranny unleashed in its ugliest form.
Will we do the same and try to invent some reason from the constitution to take away from citizens the right to keep and bear arms like we did in 1973 when we took away the right to life for millions and millions of our most precious? When this hypocrisy stops, I'll join the discussion. Until then, I'll continue to exercise my rights under the second amendment, and fight for the right to live for the unborn. Perhaps Gabby Gifford will do the same.

Life does not begin at conception. Otherwise, since a quarter or more of fertizations spontaneously terminate, that would be the biggest public health crisis we have, and the defenders of the unborn should be sponsoring huge research projects to alleviate that.

Life certainly begins before birth.

There is thus a process of increasing life till the fetus crosses the threshold of personhood, and that is what a law regulating abortion must recognize. Moreover, women's autonomy must be recognized, becoming pregnant does not give the state a right to her womb.

If you want women to give birth rather than choose abortion, then it must be clear that child welfare programs are in place. The typical political support fot the unborn seems to end with birth, after that the child is a "moocher" or "taker". This must end, society has to be prepared to support all the born until the age of majority.

Finally, sex education and making contraception available reduces abortions greatly, certainly more than exercise of second amendment rights. The war against Planned Parenthood must end.

I've read roe v wade. It's the opposite of tyranny. Abortion is ugly, sure, but no uglier than dying soldiers screaming for their mothers. Projectiles from weapons kill people. Abortions kill people before they are ready to survive outside the womb. It's pretty darn terrible to say "I'm ignoring the plight of these dead babies in favor of these other dead babies". Especially when there's such a huge glaring difference between school-age sentience and fetal unknowing. For people like you to use these tragedies to "take a stand" against policies you deem tyrannical...well you deserve the very worst (of the terrible situations that you are tossing around so carelessly) to happen to you. At least. Maybe such cowardly armchair quarterbacks would stop spouting off if they knew better from experience. Probably not though.
