Advice to readers regarding fiction

Never read fiction to learn something or to "improve your mind" or to cross off a classic or whatever.  Fiction is meant solely and purely to be read for fun.

Which of his books have you read?
none, i have to have a reason to read one. http://noahpinionblog.blogspot.com/2012/08/niall-...
I try not to have opinions on books I haven't read at least a little of. But hey, that's just me.
One can have a valid opinion of the author, and therefore shun his books, no?
Now you tell me!

Seriously, though, I completely disagree. A good novel puts you into a world in a way that no dry history can. The images are filtered, of course, but so is every image. Novels and other art are our best windows into times and places far away. A good novel, though, is going to be deeply interesting in its own right.

If it is good & fun, it will put you in another world. If it is merely good, but not fun, you won't engage with it, IMO, and a huge part of you will remain in Mundane-istan.
