Indian has been a victim of terrorism exported from Pakistan through state and non-state actors for a long time. India has been a victim of Islamist terrorism much longer than Europe or America, almost since its inception as a modern democratic republic. Indian media personalities like Mr. Akbar have been reflecting on the issue for a long time and have far more experience to share than their European or American counterparts.

M J Akbar writes a regular column in The Time of India every Sunday and I read it regularly. I find his observation rational and unbiased. His views are like those of Sarif Ahmed Khan, who resigned in protest against the passing of the so-called Muslim Women's Protection Act by Rajiv Gandhi Government, to reverse the verdict of the Supreme Court of India in Saha Bano Case.. The Act, though called 'Protection' makes Muslim women less equal than Muslim men. Rajiv Gandhi got this law passed in Parliament to appease the Muslim fundamentalists.

Sorry, the name is 'Arif Ahmed Khan' and not 'Sarif'.
