I survived Sandy!

Quite lucky, actually. Given the direction of the wind, the tree toppled in the best possible direction where it did the least possible damage.

Power and gasoline remain a problem for those lucky New Jerseyians whose families and homes escaped unscathed (or mildly bruised).  I can't imagine what people who have lost more are going through.

Scary. How did you get rid of the tree?

Was lucky to get a tree removal contractor that morning. But paid an arm and a leg for their services. They chain sawed the tree into moveable bits and carted it to the curb, where the municipality will pick it up, in about three hours.

Thanks! I don't have a place to burn wood, but folks did take logs from the curb for their fireplaces.
I, too, was beginning to worry about you, Arun. Glad to see that you and yours have weathered the storm without any major incidents. That big smile on your face indicates to me that you're safe and sound. :~)

That said, I'm one among the rapidly growing many who's not convinced that the army and national guard cannot handle the role of FEMA. However, this would require our army to be at home, rather than fighting useless wars and policing the world.

Thanks!

The National Guard (and not the Army) could help with emergency relief, but cannot fulfill the role of FEMA.
