Well, "ties" is a bit vague but with al Quaeda there and others, hardly a surprise. I suspect that it is also true that most terrorism has ties to Saudi Arabia, especially financial and religious.
I don't know if you have read the book "Three Cups of Tea" but I found it fascinating. One American's ground level view of the Pakistani back country. The author, after an unsuccessful assault on K2, was nursed back to health by a village. since that time he has devoted his life to building schools for girls (and boys - but they have to educate the girls) in remote areas of Pakistan and Afghanistan. I think it gives a very human picture of both ordinary life, the aspirations of the people, and their relationship to the Saudi financed Madrassas that are major teachers of violence and religious hatred.
