India's media war against Pakistan

Supposedly Indian soap operas are aimed at corrupting Pakistan's children and women.
Hindi/Urdu only - but the message is that women neglect their housework to watch Indian soaps on the Star Plus channel. {Star Plus is owned by Rupert Murdoch.} Children learn of family problems, including fights with the inlaws, extramarital affairs, and so on at an early and impressionable age. By seeing Hindus so often, the "nafrat" (hatred) that Pakistanis have for Hindus will be reduced. These are matters of grave concern and so the government should take action. Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had after all said that India will wage a media war against Pakistan.

Interesting things apart from the rank unvarnished hatred - chillingly vicious because it is not strident, but cool and absolutely internalised. Also notice the vast difference between the Persianized patois of the anchor and the mullah compared to the chalit Hindi-Urdu mix of the housewife and the roadside Romeo. The Pakistani youth aren't besotted with just the Khan dudes - Hrithik Roshan is an obsession. The kids of course are adorable, the Puja, aarti and all, and the charming namaste! Until about 60 years ago in Lahore, Ram-Ram was the acceptable inter-cultural greeting - if you have seen Garam Hawa you would know that. And full marks to Ekta Kapoor for blowing the shoddy, decadent, contrived, cheesy Pakistani serials out of the water - for good. I too had a Pakistani serial phase in the early '90s. But soon gave up on them - first of all it was a bunch of stage actors obsessed with getting their lines right and missing the expression, secondly every character is Muslim - not a single token non-Muslim presence, thirdly they were so didactic and depicting a non-existent society of decadent tameez and tehzeeb.
