On a normal day, a dozen roses, such as those here, are $9.99 a dozen. On Valentine's Day morning, the same are $34.99! What a gift of such roses means may be reconsidered.
Me, I prefer growing my own roses, though they are season-bound, pricklier, less picture perfect, but infinitely more fragrant and alive and fun.
PS: To keep Wolfgang happy:

But Arun,
It looks as though you took this picture while you were in an outdoor garden: doing a little photoshopping on the sly, aye? ;)

It is from my garden, summer 2007.

re: reconsidered, I think Valentine's roses should be red.
Hi Wolfgang,
I see why, but over here, the supermarket has all colors for V's day.
