,Three

One is rather different from Three and Two.

    Hi Arun,

Too bad you didn't list these stories in reverse order... Maybe it's just a girl thing, but I'd much rather come away having my heart filled with warmth, instead of with cold.

  2. Hi Cynthia:

Hmmm, sorry about the girl thing. For me, it is the physicist thing. The first two stories lead me to try to put my finger on what went wrong in the third. After all, the first two couples would have also gone through sufficient mundane stuff intruding on their passion. What was the difference?

    Hi again Arun,

"What was the difference", you ask?

The difference lies in the fact that the first two stories were about marriages ending in death, whereas the last one was a marriage ending in divorce. So it's hard to say whether the first two couples would have fallen off their perch for passion as their interactions became more mundane. But if their love for each other was truly genuine, when their interactions began to feel less magical and thus more mundane, passion shouldn't have collapsed into indifference -- such as it did in the third story...

And since I've never experienced lust without love (the two has always been intertwined for me), the fourth story is out of my range for comment. Thinking back, though, I strongly suspect one man (if not two) in my life have pretended to love me just to lust after me. But hopefully I'm a little wiser now to know when a man is a pretender of love.

Though unlike you (I gather), I'm a classic example of someone who's never gotten love right, so you oughta take whatever I'm saying here with a huge grain of salt.

    Dear Arun,

Perhaps I do *gather* wrong, but I'm not wrong in that I have yet to find you wrong about anything!

    Sincerely,
    Cynthia

  7. Hi Cynthia,
A person who is never wrong is a horrible person, at least, so I think. So.....

    :(

O.K., Arun, you're wrong sometimes... And it's not wrong of me to do whatever I can to put a smile back on your face.
