How is this even possible if only the yellow component is supposed to be present in the ONGE ? tim drakehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05093741606718091068noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8952506.post-23915134439988299572018-04-18T14:40:13.288-04:002018-04-18T14:40:13.288-04:00This comment has been removed by the author.tim drakehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05093741606718091068noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8952506.post-66184529549679155802018-04-18T13:30:15.234-04:002018-04-18T13:30:15.234-04:00There are at least 5 variants that are associated ...There are at least 5 variants that are associated with lactase persistence.
http://answer2pakteahouse.blogspot.com/2018/04/lactase-persistence.htmlArunhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03451666670728177970noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8952506.post-38591506934303906932018-04-18T09:44:34.020-04:002018-04-18T09:44:34.020-04:00Regarding milk, there was a genetic study on a tri...Regarding milk, there was a genetic study on a tribe called "Kalash" (who btw have the highest Steppe related ancestry among South Asian populations in the latest paper) in pakistan. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4570283/ (n=23 samples were studied)
From the study -
"One striking example is the frequency of the derived allele for rs4988235, which has been linked to lactose tolerance. The Kalash, like the MA-1, are fixed for the ancestral allele
for this variant, whereas their neighbors in Pakistan have been observed to have moderate frequencies of the derived allele. Although this supports their long-term isolation, it is surprising in other ways because the Kalash have no reported lactose intolerance and indeed celebrate a "milk day" during their annual spring rituals. This suggests that there might be additional derived lactase-persistence alleles in the LCT-MCM6 (MIM: 601806) region in this
population."
tim drakehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05093741606718091068noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8952506.post-49041015820096261752018-04-14T09:51:57.455-04:002018-04-14T09:51:57.455-04:00This comment has been removed by the author.tim drakehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05093741606718091068noreply@blogger.com
